  • Title: Edgewater College: Testimonials
Descriptive info: Edgewater Kazakhstan.. Please have a look at what some of our students both past and present say about us.. If you are a past student of Edgewater College and would like to submit a testimonial please contact Danielle at:.. Danielle@edgewater.. Javier Lanaspa - Spanish - General English.. Nationality:.. Spanish.. Course:.. I ve been studying for twelve weeks in Edgewater College.. The best about the college is to have the opportunity to meet people from other countries and sharing different countries.. My favourite things about Drogheda: It s a very quiet town and the people are so friendly.. There are many different things to do (cinema, pubs, parks, shopping centres).. The biggest difference between Ireland and my home country is, of course, the weather! But also, how friendly people are and mainly, the daily rhythm : Irish people are calmer than in Spain and they take life easier.. Here you can relax more and you seem to have more time to relax and do more things.. Hesham Jefairi.. Libyan.. Aviation English.. The most interesting thing in the college is the staff, they are really friendly and make you feel like you are part of their family, and also making new friends from all over the world.. The town is lovely with a really good beauty of nature.. The people are really friendly and always ready to help if you need or ask for help.. I have been here for 6 months now and for sure I ve learned a lot of new things, on the other hand especially about Irish tradition and culture which I really like.. I would definitely recommend Edgewater College.. I think all schools can be the same but in my opinion the teachers and staff make such a difference here at Edgewater.. For example, my lovely teacher Margaret , she is so sweet and really always ready to help.. Also for the all the other staff, they are always friendly and helpful.. Anna Ibiza.. Spanish.. General English Business English.. My name is Ana Ibiza.. I am from Seville, Spain.. I am forty years old and I work for the Ministry of Treasury in Spain.. They gave me a scholarship to improve my English and this is the reason why I am here.. I chose Drogheda to study English because I wanted a place close to Dublin Airport but not as big as Dublin.. Also I didn’t want to meet other Spanish students so I definitely decided to come to Drogheda when I knew that most of the students at Edgewater College were not from Spain.. I have done two weeks of General English and six hours of ‘one to one’ in Legal English and I enjoyed them a lot.. I think Edgewater College’s teachers are really good because they are not boring and this is something important when you spend a lot of time at school.. I believe that in this short period of time, I have improved my English a lot.. I have visited Dublin and Belfast and I think Irish people are very friendly.. I live with a host family and I feel like I am at home.. I thank you Irish people for helping me to enjoy my stay in this wonderful country.. Louise Rice.. Irish.. TEFL/CELT.. The course was brilliant, you re given an opportunity to develop your teaching skills with the help of other teachers who have on the job experience.. It was a difficult 4 weeks but you re learning so much that the times flies.. The students were great fun and I enjoyed teaching the most.. There is a lovely atmosphere in the college and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.. I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to teach, it was an enjoyable experience.. Nalan Topçu.. Turkish.. My name is Nalan Topçu.. I am from Turkey.. I am 25 years old.. I came to Ireland to improve my English and I chose Edgewater College for my studies.. I am very glad to be here because teachers are very friendly and helpful.. I am living with my brother and his wife.. They have three children.. My sister-in-law is Irish and she supports me very much.. I am having a great time with them.. I get good practice to speak with my sister-in-law.. I like Ireland very much because it is quiet and safe.. The people are very friendly.. The English language is an international language.. It is very important to speak English in Turkey.. It is much easier to find a job.. Also I am living in a touristic place.. Many Irish and English tourists go there.. I will be able to talk with them next year.. The reason why I am in Ireland is to learn another language.. Because one language is one person, two languages are two people.. Khayri Shelik.. I have been here at Edgewater College for 6 months.. I enjoyed studying here.. My favourite thing about Drogheda is the people and the college.. Also the views of the river Boyne and the history of Drogheda town.. The biggest differences between here and Libya include the weather and the language.. Also the road conditions, driving on the right side of the road.. I learned how to speak and write English.. Before I came here I did nt know what to expect, but when I came to this college I was surprised to see the teaching experience is exactly the same as in Libya.. For example, a teacher/student/classroom situation.. Thanks to everyone in Edgewater College for all the support.. Thank you.. Harmeet Kaur.. Indian.. Nursing Conversion Programme.. I have been here for 2 years now, I got good knowledge and experience at Edgewater College.. Because of this knowledge I can work in the nursing field.. Edgewater College gives me good future.. Drogheda is a very nice place to live, and I find the people very friendly and co-operative.. When I came here first I was alone, at that time the people of Edgewater College and Drogheda helped me a lot and now I am in this position that I can make my own decisions.. Elise Lebargy.. French.. Spring Junior Linguistic Stay.. Age:.. 17.. I was here for 1 week in April 2008.. It was my first time in Ireland, so it was a first trip-nice and perfect.. My favourite bit was the bowling and friends I made.. My host family was perfect and their children were very nice.. When I wake up my family make my lunch and I have breakfast with the children.. When I come back I play with the children and their friends and I go out with the group.. I have a room with a bed, computer etc.. On the sofa there is a cat, his name is Twingo and out in the kennel there is a dog.. At night, I watch TV.. I eat pasta, chips, hamburger and pizzas.. Marcio Fabiana Rodrigues.. Brazil (Uberlandia).. We are Brazilians and we started studying at Edgewater College in March 2008.. We have been here for 2 years.. We started studying General English and now we are preparing to do the FCE Test in June.. Studying here for us has been a great experience, the teachers are excellent and the staff as well.. We always meet with people from different countries and this is good, by the way we learn more about different cultures.. The last changes at the College have been excellent, because now we have four classes every day with three different teachers and this has helped us to improve more our English.. Life in Drogheda is totally different from life in Uberlândia, Brazil.. Here is calmer because Drogheda is a small town compared to our home town and the weather here is cold but we like it, because normally in Brazil is always hot.. We like the food here, travelling around the country, shopping and our plan is to live in Ireland for quite a while.. In Ireland we found good friends and our will is to have more and more friendships.. Thank you Edgewater College for helping us to speak good English!.. Wang Jin (Susan).. Chinese.. So far I am here for 2 years and 3 months.. The best bit about the college is the many different class times and different levels.. Drogheda has many shops, a train station, bus station and it s own immigration station.. The weather in Ireland is very different to my city in the south of China because in my city it s very warm.. I learned many things when I was here, English language, culture of Ireland, also many different work experience in Ireland etc.. I d like to tell my friends about Edgewater College in Drogheda if  ...   talk to.. All the staff other than teachers were very friendly and helpful.. I got to visit a lot of interesting places and also went to see the famous Riverdance show in Dublin.. I enjoyed my time in Drogheda and hopefully will come back one day.. Sandra Munemo.. Zimbabwean.. Diploma in Business Management.. I have been in Ireland for 6 years, and have been attending Edgewater College for 8 months.. I love the cosmopolitan mix of people and the friendly, warm atmosphere generated in the college.. The staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful.. I am doing a Diploma in Business Management, and find the lecturers brilliant and the classes very well prepared.. Studying at Edgewater College has given me the confidence and focus to achieve the best career in life.. Its very affordable too, so guys this is the time and place to start your career!.. The town of Drogheda is a very nice and quiet place to be, you can relax, put your feet up, and let your hair down.. The people are very friendly and there a lot of nice, and interesting things about the town.. Finally, I just want to thank all the staff and in particular my lecturers Martin and John.. As they say in Drogheda: Thanks for putting up with me.. Zhihua Feng.. Chinese.. Nursing Conversion Progamme.. Zhihua has studied and successfully completed a 4 year Bachelor of Nursing Course at Edgewater College.. She was awarded her Bachelor of Nursing degree in July 2007.. Zhihua said the best bit about Edgewater College is the “friendly and good study environment, with the best teachers”.. All the staff at Edgewater College would like to congratulate Zhihua on being the first student to successfully complete this course.. She received excellent results, with 1 pass and 7 distinctions.. Marie Arnauld.. I have been here for over a year now, the best bit about Edgewater are the good teachers and the possibility to schedule my classes regarding my availability.. It is a good network to meet people from different countries and cultures.. The town has a lot of facilities including stores, cinema, pubs, good restaurantsetc and it's not far from Dublin.. It is a good spot for nice walksand visits (eg: Newgrange, Tara etc).. I have learnt a lot here and feel more comfortable and confident with my English speaking.. Simhadri Manabala.. Master of Information Technology.. I attended Edgewater College from July 2003 – July 2005 as a student.. I have been a lecturer here since July 2005 until present.. The best bit about Edgewater College is the ideal learning environment, helpful and motivating staff.. There is an overall friendly atmosphere which makes students like me feel at home after so far away from the family.. Drogheda is a peaceful and beautiful town with friendly people.. It is far away from the busy life as seen in Dublin.. I wish to settle in Drogheda if only I can get appropriate visa status.. I met my husband here in Drogheda at the college, we are now married and have a baby - my life is so woven now with Drogheda and Edgewater College as I work for it now.. I wish to stay and live here in the years to come.. That would be my dream come true.. Katarzyna Mazurek.. I have been living here for 1 year and 6 months.. My favourite bit about Edgewater College is the suitable hours of the lessons.. I like that the classes have different nationalities, with a nice atmosphere and good teachers.. Drogheda town has nice views on the river and is an old town.. Luca Versatti.. Italian.. Aviation English.. I came to Ireland to improve my aviation English because I am a civil pilot.. If you are interested in studying or improving your aviation English, I think that Edgewater College is the best Institute to learn.. They have experienced teachers such as Mr Barry who has over 40 years teaching experience in universities and has a pilot license.. Daiga Reinberga.. Latvian.. This college is the best.. I like my teacher Margaret very much.. I am happy with her methods of teaching.. She helps us to improve our skills – speaking, reading, writing and listening.. She makes it easier to remember vocabulary.. One more good thing is since I am a very shy person my teacher always encourages me so that I feel much more confident now.. Sungho Kim.. Korea.. Hi, I’m Sungho Kim from Korea.. I’m 28 years old.. I came to Ireland to learn English and practice golf.. I’m the sort of person who wants to become a professional golfer.. So I practice golf everyday.. I think Ireland is a golfer’s paradise.. If you are interested in golf, you should try to learn and play golf in Ireland.. I think it is a great country to play golf.. I came to Edgewater College to learn English.. I have been studying English at Edgewater College for 2 years but it is not easy to learn English.. If you want to improve your English, you can practice it in many different ways.. When you live in Ireland for the first time, you could feel very bored: no friends, no place to have fun, but don’t worry, go out.. You will feel welcome everywhere and you can learn English everywhere.. Don’t be shy, just do it.. It all depends on you!.. Carlotta Nanni.. At the beginning of March I decided to go to Ireland to study English and be an Au-Pair.. I was very glad and impatient to start the English class: it would be the occasion to meet some people.. In the first week I went to eat pizza with a Chinese boy from my class, in the following days the others students were very kind and open towards me which made my staying in Ireland very pleasant: I liked to look after the children, to spend some time with the family in the evening, to go to English class and to discover Irish landscape.. After two weeks at the Edgewater Institute, I changed the class and I passed at higher level, in Margaret s class.. She is a very good teacher, competent and motivated.. The other students were interested to learn quickly and the lesson was very interactive.. In this class my English got on day after day.. I was lucky to attend Sharon s class for some days and to participate at interesting discussions, where I could improve my English speaking.. I want to thank Danielle, all my classmates and the Edgewater College who have helped me when I needed them and to have made my experience special.. Solange Santos.. Brazilan.. I am here for almost 1 year now, and the best bit about Edgewater College is the people – their kindness and understanding.. I am very happy about the organization of the school and really feel I am learning a lot every day.. The town of Drogheda is a nice small town and the people are polite.. The weather in Ireland is very different from Brazil.. Keep up the good work and well done.. Nunu.. My name is Nunu and I have been studying in Edgewater College for more than three years.. I can remember clearly the first day I started my lessons, I couldn t understand what the teacher was teaching but now not only can I understand the teacher easily but also I enjoy watching English films/TV.. without subtitles.. I will always appreciate all the teachers as they are patient, attentive and friendly.. The first year I came here, I was so home sick but now I like this country, Drogheda is like my second home town, one day I will have to leave, but studying and living in Ireland will be the best memory of my life.. Gerard Williams.. Irish.. I completed the CELT course in July 2009 after four weeks of hard work, late nights and no going out at weekends! It was definitely challenging but this just increased the sense of satisfaction when it was all over.. I enjoyed the course content, our trainers were top class and the experience of getting up and actually teaching English to students in the college was so new to me that I still can t believe I did it! It was a great introduction to the preparations and planning that must go into giving a lesson.. Our class group was made up people from all kinds of backgrounds and the atmosphere was great with everybody willing to help one another out.. Our trainers were always on hand to help and advise us and everybody in the college, from the experienced teachers to the staff at reception couldn t have been more helpful and encouraging..
