    Descriptive info: Constitution of the Irish Association for High Performance Computing.. Section 1 Title:.. The Title of the Association shall be the Irish Association for High Performance Computing but it may be known as IAHPC for short.. This name is registered with HEANET and has been allocated the following web address: http://www.. iahpc.. Section 2 Objectives:.. The aim of the Association is to promote the exchange of information and experience among those interested in high performance computing in Ireland.. The Association will organise meetings, operate an e-mail distribution list, and use such other means to promote its aims as may be approved by meetings of the Association.. Section 3 Membership:.. Individual membership is open to any person with a professional or academic interest in high performance computing.. Corporate membership will be open to organisations and companies that support the objectives of the Association.. Other membership schemes or incentives will be allowed, as and when they are judged to be necessary from time to time, by the Committee.. Section 4 Administration:.. A Committee elected each year at an Annual General Meeting shall manage the affairs of the Association.. Section 5 The Committee:.. All members of the Committee shall be members of the Association.. The Committee shall be made up of five officers.. No titles for the officers have been decided on at present.. Responsibilities will be assigned by the Committee to the most appropriate personnel and agreed during Committee meetings.. The Committee shall have power to co-opt further members if it sees fit.. The co-opted members can be selected on the basis of particular skills they may be able to bring to the Committee.. Officers shall be eligible for re-election for a period of three years from the date of  ...   Meeting:.. An Annual General Meeting shall be held each year in October or November.. Twenty-one days written notice shall be given of the Annual General Meeting.. The Business of the Meeting will be:.. To receive a Report and Statement of Accounts from the Committee;.. To review the previous year's activities and the Association's performance in achieving its stated objectives.. To consider any motions proposed;.. To elect a Committee for the coming year;.. All decisions, other than changes to the Constitution (see Sec.. 9), shall be by majority vote of those present and voting.. Section 7 Special General Meetings:.. Special General Meetings may be convened at any time by direction of the Committee.. The purpose of a Special General Meeting shall be to enable the Committee to report and discuss with the general membership matters of importance that may arise from time to time.. A Special General Meeting shall also be convened at the request of not less than ten members of the Association.. Such a request must specify the purpose of the meeting.. Section 8 Finance:.. The Committee shall control the financial affairs of the Association.. Once appointed, the Treasurer shall maintain a bank account in the name of the Association and shall keep a true record of all monies received and paid by or on behalf of the Association.. The Treasurer shall each year submit the accounts to an appointed Auditor.. The audited accounts shall be presented to the Annual General Meeting.. Section 9 Constitutional Changes:.. Only an Annual General Meeting or a Special General Meeting may make changes to the Constitution.. Proposed changes must be specified at least twenty-one days before the meeting and for adoption, shall require a two-thirds majority of those present and voting..
