Descriptive info: General.. How's my driving?.. 27.. February.. 2012.. How's my driving?.. Rewarding safer drivers.. How is my driving?.. Recently there has been extra “driving offences” added to the penalty point’s scheme for dangerous drivers.. And rightly so.. However isn’t it time to put a scheme together that rewards good law abiding drivers?.. For example, you’ll often see the “How’s my driving?” sign on a truck or van, with the idea being to phone the number on the sign to let the participating company know if you had a complaint to make about the driver.. If the call is a complaint the driver can be reprimanded.. However if the call is praise (which I’m sure it rarely is) the driver is issued some sort of reward, whether it’s a safety certificate or safety bonus in their wage packet.. These are the companies who consistently report a reduction in fuel consumption and lost hours due to accidents.. People perform better when they are praised.. It’s in the company’s interest to promote safer driving especially when the company name is on the vehicle as it can sometimes be  ...   Those who exceed the speed limit are fined with this money then going into a pot.. All those drivers who remained within the speed limit then enter the draw to see who wins the money from the fines in the pot.. It would be a nice change to promote safer driving than threatening people with penalty points, endorsements and fines.. Anyone else got any ideas?.. Categories:.. Comments (0).. Leave a comment.. Here are some vision safety tips for mature drivers:.. Be sure to keep your prescription up-to-date if you wear glasses, and wear the proper glasses for day and night driving (there may be a difference).. When driving in sunlight wear high-quality sunglasses (or prescription glasses if necessary).. When possible, avoid purchasing cars with deeply tinted windows, which can hamper your vision at night or on overcast days.. Glance frequently in your rear view mirror, side mirrors, and instrument panel when driving to stay aware  ...   brackets may block or distract your vision.. Before you start your journey always adjust the driver's seat so the dashboard does not obscure your vision and you can see the road ahead clearly.. If the seat cannot be adjusted, use a pillow or other support for proper positioning.. Keep all mirrors, headlights and taillights clean and in good repair.. Remember to wash both the inside and outside of wind screen and windows regularly.. Try and avoid driving at night or in bad weather if you have difficulty seeing in low-light situations.. Descriptive info: Beware Rogue Instructors!.. 09.. Beware Rogue Instructors!.. In 2009 Driving Instruction in Ireland became regulated whereby all driving instructors had to sit and pass three exam’s to qualify for the RSA’s registrar for Approved Driving Instructors (ADI).. Unless you are on this register and hold a permit from the RSA,.. it is an offence to give driving lessons for reward.. Three years later, 2012, and there are still some “rogue instructors” plying their trade illegally.. These instructors have not sat their RSA exams and more than likely the reason why is that they would not reach the high standard required to pass..  ...   the vehicle (similar to how taxi’s are required to display their permits).. If they do not have a permit the driving lesson is invalid when completing your.. mandatory 12 lessons (EDT).. Very often these un-regulated rogue instructors are offering poor standards of driving lessons at very low prices.. Remember the adage “If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.. ” Pass it up, or at least check it out with a call to the RSA by phoning 1890 50 60 80 or email..
