Petula Martyn writing in the Limerick Leader has reported that Shannon Airport's passenger numbers dropped by 12 per cent in 2009.. She writes, there was a "decline in passenger numbers last year with almost 2.. 8 million passengers travelling through the airport, according to  ...   also a "dramatic decline in transatlantic traffic, which plummeted by 23 per cent to 442,000 passengers.. The news comes on the back of declining passenger numbers since the end of the so-called "Shannon Stopover" in 2008 where in an agreement with the US 50% of transatlantic flights had to originate or stop over in Shannon..

Rang KARL Parking, 1 minibus arrived and filled up.. 30 mins later the same bus returned and filled again: standing room only for my wife.. After another long wait the bus returned and I got to my car at approx 23.. 55pm.. 5 hrs of a wait is not on.. All the other carriers had 4/5 proper buses up at the pick up point.. You have to remember that it was also raining very heavily and there were women with babies and small children waiting also.. The office staff would want to coordinate a lot better with flight times.. There were 3 flights arrived at the same time Malaga/Murcia/and one UK.. I do not think that I will ever book with this cowboy outfit again and I also feel that a full refund should be issued.. Hello Ernest, We are sorry that you were unhappy with the transfer arrangements on your return to Dublin.. We have been in touch with the operator and they have said that a number of flights did arrive in together on Sunday evening but this was totally unexpected.. When the schedules were reviewed earlier in the evening the arrangements that were in place were more than satisfactory to deal with the passenger numbers due to come in later that night.. While the management at KARL are sorry that any customers are dissatisfied with the service, they point out that if the flights had arrived as scheduled there wouldn’t have been any problem, but it was the delay to flights, which were naturally totally outside their control, that caused the problem, and not that  ...   plus staff was very plesent, its what you want not a grumpy driver.. overall very pleased.. 05/06/2011.. It is the case in KARL and every other public car park that cars are parked at the owners risk.. Over all a really good service, there was however, a disconcerting incident when we arrived to pick up the car.. Having rung the parking office to report our arrival we were delayed by a necessary bathroom stop by one of the party due to a stomach bug.. The delay was at most ten minutes but when we left the terminal the pick up bus was leaving, which was understandable as another passenger was on the bus; however, I found the attitude of the driver to be far from pleasant.. He gave no time for apologies or explanations and greeted us with an extremely curt 'Where were you? I've been waiting here 15 minutes.. ' There was no further conversation other than an equally impolite barking of, 'Where's your car?' when we reached Karl.. We had just returned from a pleasant break in a country where people are often said to be rude, but our first experience on reaching 'the friendly old sod' was a unfriendly old sod with a bad attitude and even worse customer relations.. A bit of staff training wouldn't go amiss.. Hi David, I am sorry that the attitude of the driver left such a sour taste after your trip.. I have passed these comments on to the car park owner who I am sure will address the issue..

Other than location, value for money was good.. Mick.. Got charged £2 for drop off to and pick up from airport even though confirmation text message said I had nothing to pay after paying online.. Other than that service is perfect and reasonably priced.. Hi Mick, There is a charge for the shuttle bus and it is stated on the confirmation email you would have received.. There is also a pop up that you must acknowledge at the time of booking saying that there is a £2 charge for each vehicle parked.. Firstly the car park area was very dirty so we got our luggage filthy dirty when they were taken out of minibus and put on ground.. During the recent bad weather the car park used a stone covered parking area in preference to the tarmac and concrete parking areas to try to avoid accidents.. Traffic brings in general road dirt and combined with snow and ice this can cause muddiness as the dirt falls off the vehicles and tyre treads, which is an ongoing problem in the middle of winter, and inevitably if a bag is set down on the floor it can pick up the dirt.. As regards the other transfer coaches that you saw at the airport, many of these would also have been there as a result of someone telephoning for collection.. 24/12/2010.. James, Armagh.. I was a bit dubious at first as they are not right on the airport, but I arrived on time and was collected very promptly.. I also like the fact that you do not leave your car keys behind.. Something i dont understand; when a flight arrives it is a case of having to ring parking company to let them know you need to be picked up,then you wait 15minutes for them,whereas all other parking company minibuses are sitting in bays waiting for their passengers.. With todays technology a click of a button lets ye know when a flight has landed.. Everything else 100% TP CASSIDY.. Hi TP, The main reason is that although the car park track the arrivals and departures at the airport, people can be delayed when reclaiming their baggage due to lost baggage or being delayed in customs.. To ensure buses are not waiting for an unknown amount of time and therefore perhaps delaying travellers to be transported from the car park to the airport,the best way is to have you call when you have collected your baggage and gone through customs.. We have inlcuded the fact the customers have to pay for this charge that the airport have recently introduced.. It was decided that instead of incorporating this in the price, it would be better to show customers the breakdown, and although it slightly increase the cost of parking, KARL parking is still a lot cheaper than the official airport and its other competitors.. 28/09/2010.. The bus service to and from the airport was efficient.. The staff were friendly and helpful.. The only negative comment is that the location of the car park was a bit difficult to find.. When we arrived back in the middle of the night from abroad, our car would not start.. The owner/manager came, within a few minutes, with jump leads and got our car started.. I was charged £12 when I booked online, yet my receipt from Karl Parking states that I paid £6 which would be the correct amount for 2 days parking (1 night only)..
