The tax which was €10 will now be €3 and this against the industry standard where most airports are introducing or increasing the tax.. It is hoped that this move will improve Irish tourism which has been greatly affected over the last couple of years.. The Minister warned that this will be reviewed in 2012 and if it is abused by airlines by increasing fares that the original tax cost will be reintroduced..

The Hungarian airline only operate from Cork in Ireland and fly to a number of Eastern European destination, in Poland, Hungary and now Luthuania.. It also has a presence in UK airports, where it flies from Luton and Doncaster.. This bodes well for Cork airport making it an important destination for Eastern Europeans living in Ireland..

The latest figures from the Irish Aviation Authority has shown that air traffic through Ireland's 3 main airports continue to decrease.. However the rate of decrease has slow down significantly with the exception of Shannon.. In September traffic through Dublin decreased by 2%.. For the year thus far however the overall decrease is by 10%.. This does not bode well for the short term future of the new terminal.. Traffic for last month for the airports Cork and Shannon are down 9% and 29% respectively..
