  • Title: Mentoring
Descriptive info: Mentoring.. We believe that everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling life if they are provided with the appropriate support and opportunities.. If through circumstances or the lack of a support network, a person has yet to gain the life skills for independent living we will support that young person to successfully learn to live independently.. Mentors engage with young people on a relationship basis.. In promoting interdependence we recognise that many young people may have difficulty making alliances with helpful adults due to poor attachment experiences.. The relationship with the mentor can facilitate the development of their ability to avail of support within their local community.. We have a partnership established with a leading voluntary agency in the UK and provided recognised accredited mentoring training to our experienced staff.. Each young person’s needs are determined in consultation with the referring agent.. We assess each individual and make recommendations accordingly.. The support programme is entirely flexible.. We provide a range of tailor made packages to support the needs of the individual in a holistic and multi-agency framework.. Our model  ...   break the cycle of destructive behaviour.. Helping the young person understand their own feelings, manage their anger, and raising their self esteem is the key to develop sociable behaviour.. “Mentoring is able to offer a complimentary but different experience of a relationship to young people at the critical period of their transition to adulthood.. ”.. ~ (Stein 2005).. The majority of young people are able to live and learn life skills within the local community with direct mentoring support of between 10 –30 hours a week depending on needs.. As each individual is guided towards interdependence, outreach support can be reduced to 5 hours a week.. We also provide 24hour on call support to young people.. The Process:.. Assesment.. Each young person participates in an initial assessment that helps them determine their aspirations and this is evaluated throughout the process.. Support Plan.. A support plan is mapped out in agreement with the referring agent and other agencies that are involved in the multi-disciplinary approach.. Progress Reports.. Each month we compile a comprehensive progress report which is sent to the referring agent..
