  • Title: Tusnua Project - Benefits of attending a pre-school
Descriptive info: Many parents worry about the decision to send their child to pre-school, therefore we have outlined some of the benefits of attending pre-school.. The importance of a child’s early years should not be underestimated.. During this time they develop many of the skills that will be essential throughout their lives.. A high quality pre-school can provide the ideal environment and experiences for children to support them to reach their fullest potential.. The role of play in young children’s learning should not be underestimated.. It is through play that a child will acquire many of the following areas of learning and development;.. Physical Development:.. In pre-school children will have the opportunity to develop both their gross motor (use of large muscles e.. g.. skipping, jumping) and fine motor skills (use of smaller muscles such as holing a pencil, pincher grip).. They will participate in activities that  ...   conflicts, share, cooperate and negotiate with others.. Communication skills:.. Children will develop their language skills and vocabulary and explore sound, pattern, rhythm and repetition in language.. They will develop and understand the use of non-verbal communicating skills, have opportunities to explore their emergent literacy and listen to and respond to a variety of types of music.. Emotional development:.. Children grow in confidence and independence during their time in a high quality preschool.. They will be supported to develop problem solving skills and they will be encouraged to make choices based on their own skills and interests.. Exploring and Thinking Skills;.. Children will get the opportunity to develop problem solving skills during activities such as building with blocks, puzzles, sand, water, playdough, dress up, construction, and books.. Children will be encouraged by pre-school teachers to think and make decisions for themselves at all times throughout the day..
